For July 25, 2021 Prayer for Peace and Peace Moment with introduction
Introduction
Each week we hear a Peace Moment in addition to the prayer for peace.
This week’s Peace Moment is by Jeannine Ward.
PEACE MOMENT
Peace was created through generosity in the scripture story of the feeding of the 5000.
How can we create peace through our own generosity? To have a generous mindset, we must first practice gratitude. When I use this perspective, I realize I have many blessings. But sometimes the scarcity mindset creeps back in. I can relate to Philip’s statement in verse 7, that “6 months wages” won’t solve the problem.
In Community of Christ, we often refer to our resources as Time, Talent, Treasure, and Testimony. Andrew was the one who found the boy who had just two things: loaves and fish. If you were to share two things that could make peace among those in your life, what would they be? May we commit to sharing two things this coming week. Do you have an hour to go visit with someone who could use a listening ear? Do you have a talent that you can share with someone? Do you have treasure that can be used to purchase necessary supplies for someone in need? Do you have a story of God working in your life that may strengthen another’s faith?
Let’s find peace in generously sharing what we have. Let’s help create peace by simply becoming more generous.
Please join me in our prayer for peace.
Loving God, we ask you to expand our hearts and minds so that we may realize all that we have, and all that we are comes from your many blessings. We ask you to help us see the needs around us, those in our families, our communities, our nation, and our world as a pathway to peace. Help us work together to pursue peace so that wanting and suffering may be satisfied. Guide us to work together to pursue peace so that hunger and poverty may be alleviated. Increase our desire to expand our generosity today. Amen
